Concerned about yourself?
Many people who use alcohol or drugs believe they are in control of themselves and their situation. This may not be the case.
We encourage you to answer the following questions honestly:
Has your drinking or drug use caused problems with your primary responsibilities (work reprimands; being fired; school failures, detentions or suspensions; or difficulty caring for your children)?
- Has your drinking or drug use caused relationship problems (divorce, separation, being kicked out of the house) with those close to you (parents, spouse, children)?
- Has your drinking or drug use caused any legal difficulties (DUI; domestic violence; public drunkenness; possession; curfew violations, etc)?
- Has your drinking or drug use caused a change in friends (loss of friendships; new "party" friends; a feeling of loneliness or isolation)?
- Has your drinking or drug use caused you to suffer sickness (shakiness, vomiting, paranoia, depression, etc)?
- Has your drinking or drug use caused you to change spiritual or moral values (stopped attending religious services, etc)?
- Have you ever tried to stop using alcohol or drugs?
- Has anyone close to you expressed concern about your alcohol or drug use?
- Do you find it difficult to have a good time without using alcohol or drugs?
- Do you spend a lot of time thinking about ways to get alcohol or drugs?
If you answer “Yes” to as few as one of these questions, you may have a problem with drugs or alcohol. We encourage you to contact Recovery by Meridian, so you can explore your situation more fully with the help of a trained professional.
